Prana and Vital Energy are substances which evolve from the
all-pervading substance -- Akasha.

The Adonai Light on the other hand is an aspect of the "Divine
Splendour", instead of the "Divine Substance". In overly-simplified
terms, the "substance" aspect gives form to the "splendour" aspect. In
other words, the Adonai Light is an example of "splendour" or *essential
meaning* and this is why it can be condensed or shaped into (i.e., given
the form of . . . ) the Akasha, the Fluids, Elements, lesser Lights,
etc. The "splendour" aspect determines, or has power over, the
"substance" aspect, but not vise versa.

In terms that are not over-simplified, the "substance" aspect (which
finds its first expression as Binah) is a *direct* product of the
"splendour" (Chokmah) aspect. The "splendour" (i.e., essential meaning)
is the *direct* product of the Kethric Brilliance or all-pervasive
Consciousness. Nonetheless, for all practical purposes, it is
convenient to think of "substance" as giving form to "splendour".
