one-pointedness??

Message 00409 of 3835

Does one-pointedness simply means to choose a topic, allow all
related thoughts to enter your mind, and excluding all unrelated
thoughts?

"to hold onto a single thought or idea for a longer while, and to
suppress any other thoughts associating and obtruding with force on
the mind," does it mean to hold onto a fixed thought such as a mantra
or image, and excluding all other thoughts, even thoughts that are
related? I know its useless to focus upon a mantra or image without
knowing the meaning, but i am quite confused as to what exactly
does "one-pointedness" means.

-confused and drooling from my mouth
