I just finished chapter V of IIH a few weeks ago, and i did all of it 
within a Qabalistic circle after doing a Qabalistic middle pillar 
ritual. Though its upto the practicioner weather or not they feel its 
neccesary in accordence with thier goals in magick, i found it didnt 
interfere with my ability to still get results such as are outlined 
in Bardons work.
