YaGi, To use a metaphor that is often found more Oriental, most popularly known through the Zen tradition though it is found within others, traditions is to describe the mind that has all of these thoughts as the "Monkey mind". Which, like a monkey, likes to jump and play all around. Putting it's attention here one second and there the next. Though the process of meditation, specifically the observation of thoughts exercise, you are just letting the monkey mind do whatever it wants, not participating, and not attempting to make the monkey mind sit still -- an act which will only cause it to become more agrivated. So, with time the monkey mind eventually get's tired and very quiet, allowing for one pointedness and vacancy of mind. Just a digression, don't mind me. Live well, Peter
