Re: A question of ambition

Message 01974 of 3835

Dear Jeremy,

>> I would like to ask about ambition. Bardon mentions somewhere in
steps 5-7 i think that the magician should by now have lost all
ambition. I find this
very strange and hard to accept. Why would he want the magician to lose
all
ambition, I mean, wouldn't that like make the magician pretty much a
useless
lump since he has no drive to succeed? <<

With just a little bit of careful consideration of his actual words, it
is very clear what Bardon meant by "ambition":
==============================
Step 8
Magic Psychic Training (VIII)
1. The Great Moment of Now ~
By now the magician's should be ennobled to such a degree that he is no
longer capable of evil thoughts or of wishing anything bad to other
people. A magician has got to be kind, obliging and willing to help at
any time, to assist by word and deed, to act generously, considerately
and discretely. He must be free from ambition, superciliousness and
avoid any boasting. All such passions would be reflected in the akasha
and, the akasha principle being analogous to harmony, akasha itself
would certainly put the greatest obstacles in the magician's way to stop
his further development, if not make it quite impossible. Any further
rising in a case like that would be quite out of question.

Step 10
Magic Mental Training (X)
Looking back to his actual development, the magician will realize that
he has already covered a good distance on the path of his perfection,
even more than he had supposed to, but he has to know that all this is
but the thin edge of a wedge. Meditating on the fact how much knowledge
and experience he has still to store, he will bow in a spirit of great
reverence in front of the Divine fount of Wisdom. There will be no more
pride or ambition nor superciliousness, to say nothing of bad qualities
in his heart, for the deeper he penetrates into God's workshop, the more
humble and receptive he will become.
==============================

My best to you,
:) Rawn Clark
