Redundancy of Thoughts

Hi.

When practicing the thought discipline exercise, music enters into my 
awareness and competes for attention with my chosen train of thought. 
Should I go about this by:
1) Ignore the song?
2) Explore it to see some sort of idea associated with it to 
where when dealed with it will just go away?
3) Any other ways?
