I'll let someone more qualified answer your question on the specific 
*Hermetic* reason for allergic reactions, but you may find these links 
to be of interest. Sandi Radomski has specialized in the study of 
allergies and holds particular interest in what she calls "energetic 
allergies" in which a sensitivity to a particular substance is made 
known not through a common histemic reaction, but by the presence of a 
seemingly unrelated symptom or behavior such as depression, anxiety, 
severe self-esteem issues, etc, or possibly by neutralizing the progress 
in certain energy meridian therapies aimed at clearing emotional issues 
at their core. It's very interesting stuff. :)
