Dear 'setiamon', >> when meditating on a object i find strong associating thoughts/awareness emerge for instance when meditating on a apple i find it tends to take on a weight, taste, texture and otehr things emerge is this the result of the mental image descending to the astral? << I'm uncertain by your wording if you're talking about a one-pointedness meditation or about the Step Two visualization exercise, so I will address both. If you're talking about a one-pointedness meditation then it depends upon how strictly you want to hem in your focus. If you want to open it a bit and use the one-pointedness to *explore* the various levels of your focal point, then letting these thoughts and impressions enter would be appropriate, vis a vis "a train of thoughts". But really, an *object* is not a good choice of focus for the Step One exercise. As Bardon wrote, it is to be applied to an idea, thought or train of thoughts. Focusing on an object is *not* the same as focusing upon an idea, thought or train of thoughts. But if you're asking about the Step Two *mental* exercise with visualization then no, these would not be at all appropriate. With the Step Two exercises you are to isolate each sense from the others and when visualizing, separate yourself from all associated sounds, feelings, tastes, smells, etc. Same with the auditory exercises -- you must create *just* the sound, not sound plus image, etc. And so on with each of the senses. It isn't until Step Three that you begin *combining* the sensory creations and generate an *astral* experience. But the generation of an astral sensory creation is not possible if you haven't already refined your *individual* senses in the Step Two manner of isolating and perfecting your control over each one separately. One thing that might help you in this is my "Center of Stillness Meditation" (http://www.ABardonCompanion.com/CSM-Info.html). The core CSM technique is one of separating your awareness from each one of the senses in succession and this can facilitate a very deep focus upon just a single sense. >> the second question is a byproduct of this sustained meditation which is a odd sensation with the physical body like energy rising upward or pressure i try and ignore the phsyiscal body but after i'v letten go of everything else it becomes like an anchor or polarity drawing me away of the mental body, how do i let go of the physical body? << Since you're the only one who truly knows what you're doing during your "sustained meditation", I recommend that you start experimenting by changing parts of what you're doing and taking note on what, if any effect, those changes have on your physical body. Keep changing your practice until you arrive at a solution. My best to you, :) Rawn Clark 21 Jan 2005 rawnclark@... rawn@... http://www.ABardonCompanion.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BardonPraxis http://E.webring.com/hub?ring=arionthebardonwe
