Re: emptiness of mind

Message 00519 of 3835

Dear Chenxsi,

>> When i do the emptiness of mind exercise few thoughts do intrude now
and then, but they do not distract me, in the sense that intruding
thoughts will be excluded easily and quickly. However, does true
emptiness means that no thoughts should even come to mind in the first
place? A full 10 minutes without even having to manage/exclude
distractions? <<

*Ten minutes of what you describe is sufficient for Step One.* :)

However, the EOM *will* deepen with continued practice until eventually
no thoughts intrude whatsoever and your consciousness is not split
between management duties and complete emptiness.

My best to you,
:) Rawn Clark
