Dear Jason. If you read some of Rawn's commentaries you'll find that it may take several lifetimes to complete IIH fully. That is to say a successful crossing of the Abyss (final part of step 10) may take many lifetimes. One thing that may reduce the time it takes to successfully cross is to concurrently work on PME and IIH once you reach step 8 of IIH. I don't know why exactly, but PME has to do with the practise of expansion of consciousness (which is what Abyss crossing is all about). So the work of PME supports IIH, and the other way round too, if I remember correctly. I believe this has been discussed before :). Hope this helps.
