Dear Pax, Re: strong emotions and the "contagion" effect Whilst the LBRP and other similar rituals may have some beneficial cleansing effects, I belive that the aim of anyone seriously interested in pursing occult studies is to master certain forces so that these rituals eventually become unnecessary. One of the strongest forces that any occult practioner should attempt to master is his/her own emotions - the aim being that, ultimately, one chooses one's emotions with intention rather than simply reacting animalistically to certain situations or reflecting the emotions of those around them. If one succeeds in this, one can consciously choose to not reflect the emotions of others, even if they are very strong (in the case of your patients). Rawn Clark has (very) recently posted a set of exercises on the BardonPraxis yahoo group that sets out a number of exercises that will help one to accomplish this. These exercises closely follow some of the early exercises provided by Franz Bardon in Initiation to Hermetics. My personal opinion is that, whilst the LBRP (and similar) has its uses, for some practising ceremonials I feel that it becomes a crutch and, eventually, a hindrance to one's continuing magickal progress. Nevertheless, whilst learning to control one's emotional body the LBRP would be of valuable assistance.
