That makes much more sense then being absolutly detached from the train of thoughts,because when i detach myself from the thoughtpatterns they disappear,they dissolve so at some point the first excercise becomes the third if i take it as total detachment,i think bardon meant that you should let you mind automate just retain your "self" awareness,don't forget yourself.Although i must admit a few times i have experienced a sudden altered state like my concoussness is pulled outside the thoughtsphere,its like simple floating above ones mind with a motionless observer conciousness,without any attachment or identification,kinda like a oobe where my own mind is like someone elses,another times i have emerged from a deep trance or sleep and approuching my thinking mind as if it were its own creature,this is something someone advanced has to answer...
